IT administrators perform initial setup on devices, such as installing applications, configuring network connections, and strengthening security settings, in response to the introduction of smart devices, malfunctions, or model changes.Specifically, beyond app installation, they configure settings for connecting to internal networks (Wi-Fi, VPN, etc.), connecting to groupware, and restricting usage of features like the camera or external storage. These settings are applied by creating files called profiles and deploying them to devices. However, organizations using CLOMO MDM operate an average of 20 profile types and 23 app types (*2), making this initial setup process a significant burden for IT administrators.
To reduce the burden of this task, CLOMO MDM has previously provided automatic profile application to devices based on organizational settings. Now, aiming to further reduce the burden on IT administrators, CLOMO MDM has enhanced its iOS app distribution functionality, enabling automatic iOS app distribution (*3)(*4). With this enhancement, IT administrators can now automatically configure and distribute organization-specific profiles and apps to smart devices.
In particular, by leveraging the enhanced CLOMO MDM alongside Apple's Device Enrollment Program and Volume Purchase Program, it is possible to pre-configure devices (*5) so that device settings and app installations occur automatically after iOS device activation (initial setup). This further reduces device kitting work.
